Golf Tips For Beginners - Fat & Thin Shots

FAT AND THIN SHOTS

The Problem:  Hitting behind the golf ball or too high on the golf ball.

This is mainly caused by you swaying during the swing.  Any side
to side movement or even any up and down head movement should be stopped.

As always hit some practice shots first, with your feet together.

During your weight shift, concentrate on keeping the weight on your right foot and (which a lot of golfers forget) on the inside of your foot.

Important point, do not let the clubface get ahead of your hands on impact of the ball.

To stop pitches fat and hitting chips

Be open and have a narrow stance.

Do not sole the club at point of contact.

Make sure your arms are connected to your chest and rotate your body as opposed to
sliding your hips laterally and jabbing at the golf ball with your hands.

Focus your eyes on front of the ball, with your weight on your front foot.  Your wrists
ahead of ball at address and through to impact.

Make sure you do a complete follow through.

The above are simple steps and is what this site is all about, golf tips for beginners
